HALL OF SHAME: a failure to meet your own standards of behavior

If you make $33,500 a year, you are among the richest 5% in the world. There are 6.2 billion people less wealthy than you. In the U.S.A., however, your not even “average.”

The median household income in the United States, as per the conducted surveys is around $46,000 per year. Now, talking more about the household income, only 17% of the total population actually makes in excess of $110,000 per year.

Just in case there are some of you who don’t know where all the money is, the following is a rogue’s gallery of those that hoard around 40% of the world’s wealth.

It’s gotten worse, not better, with time


In 1980, the world’s poorest 10 percent lived on the equivalent of 72 cents a day or less. Accounting for inflation, by 1999 they were trying to live on only 58 cents a day. Between 1980 and 1999, the median income in the richest 10% of countries grew from 77 times that of the poorest 10% to a gap of 122 times.
